The Nikon Coolpix A - Only just coming through the dealer network (April 2013) - A DX (APS-C) Sensor in a tiny metal nikon body, with lots of manual controls, and a fixed 28mm lens.... could this be the Ricoh GRD witha big sensor that so many have been waiting for?
Sadly, No. It's not.
It's good. It's closer.
But there are some ergonomic flaws that sadly make the camera hard to use and some optical issues that are unacceptable in a £1000+ Camera. Certainly in the post Sigma Merrill era.
Maybe a firmware update will sort the focus - but I'm not sure any software can sort the close focus and chromatic aberration in the Raw files. See the forthcoming review....
